From public practice to Group Controller.

I began my career in public practice in 2016, working with healthcare, automotive, and not-for-profit organizations. From planning through financial reporting, I handled technical accounting questions, internal controls, and the review and training of junior staff.

After public practice, I moved into industry, taking on roles in consolidated reporting and financial systems. I prepared IFRS financial statements across multiple legal entities and handled intercompany and foreign-currency activity. That work led me into finance leadership roles in property management and healthcare software.

Those leadership roles expanded my responsibility across the full finance function, from overseeing period-end close, forecasting, and tax filings to leading the finance teams responsible for the work. Most recently, I served as Group Controller for an international agency group.

Selected experience.

Multi-entity financial operations

I led the accounting for 50 residential, commercial, and non-profit properties; five healthcare software companies; and an international network of seven marketing agencies spanning North America, Europe, and the Caribbean. That portfolio involved month-end close, consolidation, intercompany activity, treasury and payment controls, and statutory requirements across different systems and jurisdictions.

Reporting and financial analysis

I have revised revenue forecasts, prepared annual budgets and cash-flow outlooks, presented occupancy-driven results, and developed scenario models for pricing, staffing, product investment, and working-capital decisions. The work showed management not only what had happened, but what to consider next.

Financial systems and entity setup

In several roles I worked hands-on with financial systems: Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Yardi integrations, finance-led user testing, data migrations, chart-of-accounts design, and standalone entity setup. I translated accounting requirements into workflows and reporting logic that finance teams could rely on.

Close, controls, and team leadership

I have shortened close cycles, introduced period-end checklists and review controls, and formalized receivables and payment processes. I have also managed concurrent external audits and compilations and led finance teams of six to eight through changes in responsibility. Together, those changes created clearer ownership and made the reporting process more consistent and easier to complete, review, and explain.

Why Anchor & Wave.

The organizations were larger than the businesses Anchor & Wave is designed to serve, but many of the underlying problems are familiar. Growth had outpaced the way financial work was organized. The accounting was being done, but information arrived late, systems no longer fit, or the people relying on the numbers could not see the full picture.

What I value most in this profession is staying close to the numbers and to the people who rely on them. I created Anchor & Wave to help owners establish a strong financial foundation so they can operate with stability, grow with intention, and move forward with momentum.

For me, that means the accounting, reporting, and guidance should remain connected. When I understand how the business operates and stay close to the recurring work, I can explain what is changing and help the owner weigh the next decision.

Based in Halifax and serving Nova Scotia.

Military life brought my partner and me to Halifax, and it shaped how I run the firm. Postings, moves, family logistics, and changing provinces can make everyday accounting harder than it has to be. Anchor & Wave is designed to keep your financial foundation accessible and portable as your business changes.

I work remotely with small businesses across Nova Scotia. Documents, meetings, and routine communication are handled online, so the work keeps moving without regular office visits, wherever the business is located in the province.
